Tobias Frank studied church music at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater at Munich and complemented this with studies of concert organ with Prof. M. Schuster, music education and elementary/pre-school music teaching. Afterwards, he went to England to work on Anglican church music and organ playing with T. Brown and D. Briggs. Frank further enhanced his portfolio attending masterclasses led by V. Warnier, J. Parker-Smith and others. He took away many fruitful ideas for his career as an organist as well as for his work as a church music director from the cathedral organist Christian Heiß (Eichstätt, Bavaria) and the church music director Gerd Kötter (Munich).
Frank was Director of Music at St Johannis in Neubrandenburg between 2008 and 2015, where he was also responsible for the town's international organ music festival. Since October 2015 he is Director of Music and Organist at St Luke in Munich, the Protestant Cathedral of the Bavarian capital.
Both in concerts and in liturgical contexts he takes new directions, presenting his audiences with new approaches to music through an imaginative play with space and sound. He has given organ concerts at home and abroad, for example at the cathedral churches in Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, France and Great Britain.
His CD productions for Hänssler Profil Edition and Rondeau Production were acclaimed with praise in international press reviews.
In addition, Frank produces radio broadcasts and puts together arrangements for the Bärenreiter and Bosse publishing house.
